Smart Memory Guardian Support

Support for Smart Memory Guardian on macOS.

Smart Memory Guardian is a menu bar utility that monitors memory pressure, swap growth, page-out trends, and top memory consumers so you can respond before your Mac becomes unresponsive.

Quick start

  • Launch Smart Memory Guardian from the Applications folder.
  • Click the menu bar shield icon to open the status panel.
  • Allow notifications if you want early memory-pressure alerts.
  • Use Streaming Mode or Developer Mode when OBS, Docker, IDEs, or simulators are part of your workflow.

What the risk score means

  • 0-30: normal system memory state.
  • 31-60: attention recommended.
  • 61-80: high risk of slowdown.
  • 81-100: critical memory pressure risk.

Troubleshooting

No notifications appear

Open System Settings, choose Notifications, and make sure notifications are allowed for Smart Memory Guardian.

The app reports high risk

Check the top memory consumers in the menu bar panel. Reducing Chrome tabs, pausing Docker workloads, or closing simulators can reduce pressure.

The app does not close other apps

This is expected. Smart Memory Guardian is designed to warn and recommend actions; it does not automatically terminate processes.

App Review notes

Smart Memory Guardian uses public macOS APIs for local system metrics and UserNotifications for local alerts. It does not collect analytics, upload diagnostics, or modify other applications.
